[EDM613] Week 1 - Copyright Issues Videos

Wow after watching the videos related to copyright and piracy, even though there were many things I knew I still learned so much about the subject matter and how it effects the United States and other countries in Europe. I have run into copyright the most in the architecture design world. Many times designers are trained to study the art form in depth, reviewing every thing that has come before them and sometimes they miss the true essence of what they are trying to create. They get so wrapped in to one element of design forgetting that architecture is three dimensional. I feel some time that these basic items are forgotten because they get so consumed with something that they see that they begin to almost copy it verbatim. Understanding the legal implications of this is one thing but I agree with the video that our world has become one big "remix". Individuals "biting" (sampling) those that came before instead spending a little more time to look deeper into their resources to figure out what really makes the piece work and using that theory to create their own works.
